The Pope does not wear Prada

The papal slippers in question

In one of today's strangest stories the Vatican have denied that the Pope Benedict XVI wears Prada, the Vatican's newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, labelled the claims as "frivolous." The paper said "Obviously the attribution was false, the pope, in summary, does not wear Prada, but Christ." Last year, Esquire named the 81 year old Pope "accessoriser of the year" for his tradtional red papal shoes.

Advantage Sharapova

Sharapova in her warm up kit

Who would have thought tennis could ever be so controversial! As Wimbledon got underway yesterday Maria Sharapova upset the traditionalists by announcing that she will play in shorts, rather than the traditional tennis skirt. Sharapova's sponsers Nike have designed her an outfit which pays homage to London's history in bespoke tailoring. She commented "I'm changing it up this year, I've never worn shorts at a Grand Slam. I'm going to be debuting that. Call it menswear. It's kind of like a tuxedo look, very simple lines, classic." The outfit will of course be topped off with a pair of Tiffany diamond earrings, replacing the grunting with glamour this Wimbledon.

Diane von Furstenberg and the Time

furstenberg

Is there anything more annoying than fashion shows starting over an hour later than scheduled, at least two if your talking about SuperSuper at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Well one woman isn't going to let tardiness be rampant, at least not in New York that is, Diane von Furstenberg addressed it as a key concern in a letter issued to all involved with New York Fashion Week. Furstenberg stated "Please make every effort to start your show no later than ten minutes after the hour, if guests know that shows are expected to start on time, they will make an effort to arrive accordingly." It wasn't just designers that got pulled up on timekeeping she added "Please make sure to arrive at each show you attend on the hour, take your seat quickly, so that designers are not forced to hold the 'start of show' based on their guests' arrivals.

Ironic tees

Whilst watching the video for Sonny J's new track Hands Free P.S. was suddenly struck with the thought - whatever happenned to the ironic place name tee? I'm not talking about those stupid Skins-esque Kyoto 8 tees, rather the rhinestone covered 70s style holiday tee.

Before it was knocked out en masse into the high street the Hoxton look was a cult style, Noki sums the look up "We wore cheap radge market stall shirts of Metallica and Mickey Mouse, it didn't matter that we'd never been to see Metallica or been to Florida." Take P.S.'s advice ditch your Goonies tees and buy a obscure place name tee, (pref second hand for that original feel) and go mad with a packet or three of swarovski's. For a fab selection of tees' try Rokit.

Blinded me with Science

If anyone said to P.S. 3D movies are the future frankly I would laugh, in the days of HDTV and Blu-Ray surely 3D has gone the way of Virtual Reality, infact the last time 3D was vaguely big in the early 90s it was teamed with scratch and sniff card. That was until an email popped into my inox today which begged to differ! In the very near future new technology will allow us to watch films and TV programs at home with 3DTVs, according to Andy Millns, a director of Inition, the new trend for all things 3D is set to be big. "3D is a huge growth area and in future increasing numbers of feature films will be in 3D; the 3 top animation studios have announced all of their films will be released in 3D from now on." Oh dear lord, Kate Moss is unleashing another fragrance upon the public, called Velvet Hour, perhaps a referance to her awful cover of Some Velvet Morning methinks. Have you ever wondered why she never speaks, well at the press launch she came out with this: "There's that feeling -'Oh, night time's coming again, thank goodness. It's like a comfort. The whole feeling changes. The sun's going away, you can go out. It just feels more comforting to me. And it is like velvet." Talk about the lights are on but there is no one at home! Sex and the City trailer

P.S. could be the only fashionista (or indeed non-fashion female) who hasn't seen the new Sex and the City flick, I'm still put off by the fashion-airheads littering Leicester Square cinemas, and the last movies I watched were John Carpenters Escape from New York and The Fog respectivly. Move over Jonathan Ross theres a new critic in town in the form of Vivienne Westwood, she is not a fan of the movie, despite creating Carrie Bradshaws wedding dress, according to IMDB, she commented "I thought Sex and the City was supposed to be about cutting-edge fashion and there was nothing remotely memorable or interesting about what I saw. I went to the premiere and left after ten minutes."
