Lagerfeld's bear

karl
Karl and bear

Ever wanted your own sprightly pensioner? Well now you can, sort of, as Karl Lagerfeld has unvieled a teddy bear creation based on himself. The Steiff bear measures 16-inches, costs £750 and limited to a production run of 2,500, will go on-sale US retailer Neiman Marcus next month. Lagerfeld commented "Maybe I had one - I don't remember, I never played with anything like toys. Nothing scares me more than people with a doll collection. Frightening."

Three Cool Eyes

colourforms
M.A.C. Colour Forms

P.S. is a huge fan of MAC make up - roll on fashion week get me some freebies ... anyway I'm particulary loving the latest Colour Forms Palettes range. As you would expect the pallettes are cool combos of either eyeshadows or lipsticks which come in 3's and 5's, altougth the names are reminiscent of 70s Giallo movies with product names including Five Warm Eyes and Three Cool Lips. The lip palettes retail for a bargain £19.00 and the eyes for £29.00.

Sign o' the times

Topman watches

With the ability to tell the time only a click away on a mobile phone, its important that watches are ascetically pleasing more than functional. P.S. is loving the new range of Swatch inspired watches from Topman retailing at a megre £15 a pop.

Kiss and make up

Kiss and Make Up £9.99

When the above image landed into P.S.'s inbox, my immediate thought was 'why is someone sending me a press release on fondant fancies.' In actual fact they are quirky lipglosses by Westway, which come in cake flavours raspberry cream, cream tart, strawberry cream and choc cream puff, yummy.

New Season

55DSL FW08 Collection Video: Low Noise High Quality from 55DSL on Vimeo.

Its the end of Summer and that means the new A/W collections are about to hit the shops, one of the best collections to hit stores is the new 55DSL range. Inspired by the 80s and entitled LOW NOISE HIGH QUALITY P.S. was raving about the collection after a trip to Canoe's press day back in April, and now you can finally get you mitts on the mens and womens ranges, the 80s graphic style of the range has been carried through to the advertising, check the video above.

LOW NOISE HIGH QUALITY by 55DSL is available from the Newburgh St flagship store, off Carnaby St.

The Right Trousers

wallace
Wallace and Gromit

To celebrate the opening of Harvey Nichols department store in Bristol, Wallace and Gromit have been given a make over. Of course its not the first union of plasticine and fashion, for example just look at Donatella Versace's face, and I always thought Julien MacDonald looked like Morph. Wallace has traded in his green tank top for a Dolce & Gabbana shirt and an Alexander McQueen jacket. Creator of the duo Nick Park commented "He isn't exactly known for his up-to-the-minute fashion sense but I know he's feeling pleased with himself - it's great to see him looking so chic and stylish. I caught him looking at his reflection in a shop front window on West Wallaby Street the other day, he says he looks and feels 10 years younger. Gromit reckons it'll be moisturiser next." Whilst another image in the marketing campaign shows Wallace's love interest Lady Tottington wearing a black Alexander McQueen dress, red Christian Louboutin shoes and a Zagliani bag.

Fashion Victims

Fashion Victims

Well it seems that The Town That Boars Me wasn't up to much for Sandra Morris, one film that has caught the eye of P.S. is Fashion Victims, a German indie movie about the rag trade. Its the story of a Karsten, who helps his father Wolfgang supply dowdy clothes to local fashion outlets. His rival Steven attempts to steal Wolfgang's customers with more upmarket garments, forcing the two men into battle attempting to woo as many clothes shops as they can to stay in the business; but all hell breaks loose when when Wolfgang's son Karsten and Steven fall in love. It's well worth a watch and is available now on DVD.

The Town That Bored Sandra Morris

Sadie Frost

Yesterday saw the premiere of Ben Charles Edwards' The Town That Boars Me, P.S. was not in attendance as was djing at a prior engagement; so I sent along Disorder Magazine's film critic Sandra Morris accompanied by a repsonsible adult (and collaborator of Ben Charles Edwards) Melissa Lee, well an adult anyway. So what was the skinny on Edwards debut?

BB Update! At the Beach Blanket Babylon party for 'The Town That Boars Me' I saw recent evictee Nicole from Big Brother pottering about in a snazzy shimmering blue bingo dress, looking mystified as to why she was invited in the first place, but at least she wasn't a camera whore like all the desperate clingers-on that filled the bar. Prince of Pointless Natt Weller had his usual entourage of mute Asian droogs - blah. That bloke off 'The Salon' made a comment about my height, attempting to be witty but just coming across as condescending (I'm only 17!) Overheard: A drunk slurring at Sadie Frost "You were amazing on the trapeze". I didn't even get to see much of 'The Town That Boars Me' (not a film about Ipswich, contrary to popular rumour) because Jodie Harsh's barnet was in the way. As for the film itself: so-so. If it weren't for the celeb cameos it would have been just another student film. The musical element was grating, the sound mixing and lip-synching all over the shop. Here's hoping the film, and the gaggle of sleb-obsessed oompa-loompas that all claim to have been a part of it, doesn't mark the start of a Warhol/Factory revival/rip-off, London-style.

Tatty Devine A/W 2008/2009

P.S. is loving the new statement necklaces from Tatty Devines A/W collection, in particular the jacobian ruff and primary coloured zip necklaces. See the new collection at Tatty Devine.

Sing it like Beckham

david-beckham
Beckham

If it wasn't already apparent P.S. isn't too fond of musicals, unless your counting the Whoopie Goldberg masterpiece Sister Act, well it might sound like a Little Britain punchline, but today it has been revealed that David Beckham is set to have a musical based on his life. David Beckham - The Theatre Of Dreams, could be hitting a stage near you very soon, hopeful producer Mark Archer commented "Beckham's story is a modern-day fairytale of heroes, villains, love, and what it means to lead your country, his rise from obscurity to international stardom, his universally acknowledged gifts as a supreme sportsman, and his Hollywood lifestyle all have the elements of an aspirational fable." Although part of me would love to see the musical interpretation of Fergie throwing a wobbler - and boot - off Beckham's head.

Willis gets a make over

rumer
Rumer Willis

She may well have a face like Mr Potato Head, but that hasn't stopped Elle online getting in a tizz about Rumer Willis' new look. No she hasn't lauched a celeb- collection rather she has had a makeover, talk about polishing a turd ... 'She's swapped her Hollywood high school look - boyish crop and jeans with everything, for a sexy, razor sharp bob and groomed elegance.' Proving yet again she is the Meg to Demi Moore's Lois Griffin, the most shocking part of the article was the revelation that 'She was also named one of U.S. magazine People's 100 'Most Beautiful' this year, which she says she found 'shocking' but has clearly decided to embrace.'

Notting Hill Carnival

55SDL Carnival

Well it is August bank holiday weekend, er this weekend, and there is only really one place to be and its not Reading, P.S. is of course talking about the Notting Hill carnival. The hippest party to be at looks to be the 55DSL and Kings of Nothing carnival this Sunday spread over two floors at the William IV venue, with one floor hosted by Notting Hill Art's club's YOYO whilst the other floor is under the watchful eye of, yep you guessed it the Kings of Nothing.

Nike Town

jarvis
James Jarvis, photo James' dad

P.S. loves the work of James Jarvis ever since he did illustrations for the wonderful yet short lived Nova magazine, circa 2000 incarnation. Anyway Jarvis has been tarting up the windows of Nike Town on Oxford Circus, the instalation sees a giant bird sporting a Nike Windrunner jacket, whilst inside the foyer is covered in Jarvis vinyl artwork.

Billy

Twiggy sporting Bill Gibb circa back in the day

Its almost the end of the little Black Dress exhibit at the Fashion Textile Museum, and P.S. for one is excited for the next exhibition, a Bill Gibb retrospective. The 70s designer elevated knitwear to new heights with his knitwear designs with Kaffee Fassett, and was part of the glam rock design scene along with Ossie Clark and Biba's Barbara Hulanicki.

If you are anything like P.S. you go to Harrods to laugh at the statue of Dodi and Di. P.S. was horrifed to learn that the department store has signed on casts of the west-ends biggest musicals to perform in store for shoppers. I can't think of anything worse than doing your shopping being serenaded by some twat from bloody Mamma Mia! or Chicago; so why not go to Selfridges instead and pick up a Rankin Coca-Cola bottle or two at the same time.

I can, I can't

Rankin
Rankin's Coca-Cola bottle

Famed fashion photographer Rankin has designed a Coca-Cola bottle, the limited edition design celebrates the handover of the Olympic Flag from Beijing to London next Sunday. The bottles are only available from Selfridges, Rankin commented "As a Londoner, I love what the city represents - the vibrancy, the strength and the energy - so to reflect that with an image, which also represents the Olympics, was a fantastically exciting challenge for me as a photographer."

Pendleton

Who would have thought that one day Judge Dredd could become a style icon, P.S. is of course talking about gold meadlist Victoria Pendleton and her cycling helmet. It is actually amazing, very Stallone perfect for the days when a helmet and goggles could look too chunky. I'll be trying to get my hands on one to team with a View From vest circa 1992.

TV go home

itv
ITV

ITV is jumping on the fashion tv show bandwagon, with a new show to be hosted by George Lamb - who the hell is George Lamb? Yes P.S. is aware that I've been watching the Olympic coverage non-stop but who is this Lamb charachter? One this for sure if it's on ITV it will be a steaming pile of crap, very much like that kareoke show they have on Saturday nights, whatever thats called.

Wonder Woman

Dita Von Tesse for Wonderbra

Dita Von Tesse has hooked up with Wonderbra to produce a retro inpsired lingerie collection, the limited edition Wonderbra by Dita Von Teese collection will European rails on September 23rd. The capsule range is composed of three sets - Multi-Teese, Spot-Teese, and Satin-Teese. Tesse commented "I am very proud of the lingerie that I've created for Wonderbra, because it has all the beautiful detail of sexy, sensual and glamorous lingerie, but the fit is perfect to wear under your everyday clothes. Lingerie shouldn't be something you just put on for your lover, you should do it for you."

White punks on dope

SScover7
Alice Dellal on SuperSuper

It would be an oxymoron to call a French socialte punk, but thats exactly what Vogue onlinehave labelled Alice Dellal, commenting on how she 'is unapologetic about her out-there look.' Dellal commented "I like my style, if people don't like my hair, then they don't have to book me." She also told the Daily Mail "It's quite awkward that so many people around here have copied my look," in all fairness the haircut has been around for eons, not only during punk but has been an east end staple from the days of neu-rave. Dellal you are not the one trend setting the 'do if anything it was popularised by dj/promoter Fayann Smith aka K-Tron. Considering Dellal has graced the cover of SuperSuper she should be well aware of this fact, bint.

PETA vs Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow tod's
Gwyneth Paltrow on set for the Tod's mini movie

Is there anything more annoying than PETA, perhaps Cheryl Tweedy on X Factor, hmmm anyway it seems the vegans over at PETA are after Gwyneth Paltrows blood! The actress has been modelling fur-lined boots and bags made from ostrich and snakeskin for Tod's latest campaign, oh did P.S. mention she is also vegetarian; this has lead PETA to brand her as a "terrible example." A spokeman for the group commented "Gwyneth Paltrow won't be the apple of her daughter's eye if she continues to flaunt fur. I can only assume that Paltrow either is ignorant of the facts or lacks human decency and compassion." Ooooh thats a threat and a half!

Don't go east

Lee
Lee

After almost a weeks absence P.S. is back with more sarcasm packed blogs, I have been recovering from djing at Trash Palace last week; where my sources tell me the Ghetto nightclub is set to move from Soho to the bloody East End. Why exactly is everything shifting over there, the death knell for cool ended when they regenerated Spitalfields turning it into a pile of homogenised crap. Lee jeans are moving their showroom there too with a big party planned for next week in EC2, so watch this space for gossip from the party.

david fred perry
David David for Fred Perry

To be totally honest until today P.S. had never heard of Natascha Stolle, the young designer has snapped up the spot vacated by JJ Hudson at this seasons Fashion East presentation. Lulu Kennedy commented on Stolle : "The character she was sending out was someone I could believe in and relate to; the kind of girl I'd be friends with... Who'd lend me her clothes." Stolle joins the line up with P.S. fav's David Saunders aka David David and Louise Gray, for the tenth Fashion East.

Jacob Kimmie pre-collection

It seems pre and resort collections are becoming de rigeur amongst the fashion pack, and now Donatella Versace's muse Jacob Kimmie has launched his own pre-collection. It is a wearable version of what he would usually send down the catwalk, and takes it's cue from the Orient and has a distinct Japanese asethetic. Kimmie commented "This coming season at LFW, I’ll be showing off-schedule. Earlier this year I established a bespoke service due to demand for the handcrafted pieces and tailoring I’m becoming known for. It is my wish to put on a show that celebrates my clientele and to invite a whole new generation to my quirky whimsical world."

As every self respecting fashionista knows, for cutting edge fashion you need to see whats going on at the on/off shows. P.S. was excited to see that the schedule hd landed into my inbox this morning from my good friends at Blow pr. Well what highlights can we expect, Tuesday sees shows from Laura Lees and Afshin Feiz, Wednesday brings P.S. favourite Ioannis Dimitrousis, Basso and Brooke and the often imitated but never bettered Fashion East. Whilst the end of the week is wrapped up by newcomers Scott Ramsay Kyle and Emma Bell.

Meet Me In the Bathroom

Aggy

Is Agyness Deyn engaged to indie boyfriend Albert Hammond Jr, mutual friends of the couple have confirmed the rumour to American celeb-rag Us Weekly. No one has denied or confirmeed the rumours, but Deyn has been sporting a huge rock on her wedding finger.

Pretty Pointless Quince, the revenge

Peaches for PPQ

Peaches Geldof has been promoting her new range for PPQ, which seems to have a heavy gothic influence, no doubt inspired by her current boyfriend Faris Badwan from The Horrors. juding be the picture the collection will be some god awful combination of japanese Harajuki style and Dickensian London. It's not just the Horrors losing all sense of cool, as Geldof praised Catch bar on Kingland Road stating "I can’t bear Boujis. What am I going to do? See Prince William making out with Kate Middleton? I’d rather see an amazing band."

Kate Moross

Kate Moross

One of P.S.'s favourite graphic designers has been awarded one of Creative Reviews' Creative Future award. Moross has produced some shit hot new artwork based on winning the busary, Moross told Creative Review “I wanted to try and work illustrations into some of the photographs I liked from the content we were given, I just took phrases that I connected with the images, whether they were lyrics from songs I was listening to, or a line that I heard in passing. I wanted to keep it really simple, and just have the illustration burning through.” P.S. looks forward to what she and her Isomorph record label produce next.

They're Grrrreat

Onitsuka Tiger x Edwin

Two of the hippest Japanese cult labels around have collaborated together again, of course P.S. is talking about the latest jeans by Edwin and Onitsuka Tiger based on earlier New Vintage models from the late 90s. The Onitsuka Tiger x Edwincollection jeans are available in male and female styles, in five styles and in raw indigo and bleached blue washes, the collection will be available in the UK exclusively at the London Onitsuka Tiger flagship store, from £84.99 to £95.99.

Men in Tights

tights

P.S. is begining to think that PR people are just making these stories up for a laugh, a week after manscara it seems the sales of mens tights have gone through the roof. A style commentator for the Independent commented "online site Legwear4men is struggling to cope with demand, while Mytights reports its new men's line sold out almost immediately." Whats going on, tights for men is this the fictional days of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Leggings and spandex on men yes fair enough, but tights that just sounds like a strange fetish that has several internet sites dedicated to it. One of the basic principles of menswear design is that the wearer has to pee, it's an essential not a design detail you can mess about with!

For the well heeled man

Brogues

Fresh from her collaboration with Nike fashions Su Pollard, Carrie Mundane has hooked up with Swear to produce some wonderfully quirky men's brogues. The patent leather shoes are in two colourways; black and white and yellow and green, with each pair mirror-image each other with their inverted colourway.

Another Celeb Label

lewis
Leona Lewis

One of the most boring names in music has been tapped for a fashion range for Topshop. Yes the day has come when insipid soul singer Leona Lewis unleashes a ubiqutious fashion range for Topshop, a source told The Sun "They (Philip Green and Lewis) have fitted it in after he returns from Ibiza and before she heads back to the States. He knows she is emerging into one of the world's top pop stars and wants to discuss her doing her own Topshop range." Lewis has previously hinted she wanted to start a vegan clothing line, so a celeb clothing line for the high street thats vegan eh, sounds like it will be down the dumper faster than most X-factor pop careers; as Jimmy Saville would say "A hit, it was not."

Dress You Up

Madonna

Hard Candy might be the nadir of her career, who thought it could get worse than A league of their own eh, but that doesn't mean there is a lot of excitement surrounding Madge's Sweet and Sticky tour which kicks off next month in Cardiff. Costume designer Arianne Phillips will be mixing up elements from Givenchy, YSL, Miu Miu, Moschino, Jeremy Scott and bits from Madge's old pal Stella McCartney. With the Givenchy costumes designed by none other than Riccardo Tisci himself, with gypsy and Art Deco references, Phillips commented "Riccardo's a new young talent. If you look at Madonna's history with fashion, that makes him an obvious choice."

The Belgian designer is collaborating with The Andy Warhol Foundation to design a resort 2008 and pre-spring 2009 collection, comprising kaftans and swimwear. Von Furstenberg commented "Andy's pop colours and iconic images feel glamorous and right for the beach. Andy and I were contemporaries, so it feels right." P.S. can't wait to see the results of this collaboration.
